About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead – Linux & Cloud (OpenStack) to lead and scale our open-source infrastructure and hosting platforms. The role requires deep expertise in Linux administration, OpenStack operations, security hardening, and hybrid cloud architectures. You will oversee infrastructure design, operational excellence, and cross-team collaboration to ensure secure, stable, and high-performing environments for both internal systems and client deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Cloud Management
- Lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of OpenStack cloud environments.
- Manage PITS internal hybrid infrastructure and support client environments as per SLAs.
- Drive service improvement initiatives aligned with Kaizen principles.
- Manage OpenStack compute, storage, and networking (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Swift, Horizon).
- Integrate workloads across OpenStack, AWS, and Azure (hybrid/multi-cloud).
- Oversee monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
- Optimize cost, scalability, and high availability of hosting platforms.
Server Administration & Hosting
- Administer Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL), web servers (Apache, Nginx), databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
- Manage hosting for CMS and open-source platforms (WordPress, Magento, PHP applications).
- Automate deployments and OS maintenance using Ansible, Terraform, or similar IaC tools.
- Ensure patching, OS upgrades, and lifecycle governance.
Security & Compliance
- Implement server and network hardening, firewall rules, secure baselines, and IAM policies.
- Work with cybersecurity teams to detect, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Maintain alignment with CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001, SOC2, and other security standards.
- Enforce encryption, access controls, and secure configuration practices.
Architecture & Automation
- Architect scalable, resilient, fault-tolerant infrastructure for new and existing products.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines integrated with development workflows.
- Automate monitoring, backups, and alerts using Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Evaluate emerging open-source technologies to improve performance and reliability.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and guide junior engineers; provide technical direction and reviews.
- Work closely with development teams for smooth deployments and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and product teams on secure architecture design.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex production issues.
Required Skills & Experience
Linux & OpenStack Expertise
- 10–12 years of Linux system engineering experience.
- Mandatory hands-on experience with OpenStack (deployment, operations, troubleshooting).
- Deep knowledge of OpenStack components: Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Glance, Cinder, Swift.
Server, Web & Application Platforms
- Strong proficiency with Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL).
- Expertise in Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM.
- Experience with MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress, Magento, Drupal).
Networking, DevOps & Security
- Strong grasp of networking (DNS, VLANs, load balancers, SSL/TLS).
- Hands-on with Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Git, Jenkins.
- Knowledge of system hardening, firewalling, and security controls.
- Experience designing and managing hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: RHCE, OpenStack Administrator, AWS/Azure Architect.
- Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Exposure to ELK, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC2, PCI DSS.
